7th-9th graders take part in Confirmation at First Lutheran Church. One year focuses on the Old Testament and the following focuses on the New. Confirmation student participate in worship as Acolytes and are encouraged to serve the broader Kenyon community. The final few months of Confirmation provides an opportunity to formulate a faith statement or project that is shared with the congregation; it is a way to say what faith in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit means to you!
Confirmation provides the opportunity for young people to reflect on their relationship with God and the world around us. Over the course of 2.5 years, students dig into the Bible, have conversations surrounding life and faith, participate in worship, serve the community, and learn more about what it means to follow Jesus Christ in the 21st century. Confirmation is marked by an Affirmation of Baptism service that takes place on Reformation Sunday during the confirmand's 9th grade year.
Confirmation is only the beginning of your faith journey; it's like getting to Mile 2 of a Marathon. After Confirmation, young people continue to grow in life and faith, while being a part of the church community here at First.
